Privacy policy
This policy describes the information Summit Energy Solutions LLC collects through this site and the diagnostic quiz, how that information is used, who it is shared with, how long it is retained, and the choices available to visitors who want to access, correct, or delete their data. The summary below is plain-language; the sections that follow expand on each point. Where state privacy law (including the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act and any applicable comprehensive state privacy statute) grants additional rights, those rights apply.
The short version
The editorial portion of the site can be read anonymously. Privacy-respecting analytics record pageviews in aggregate. The diagnostic quiz and the advisory form collect contact information voluntarily provided by the visitor, including name, email, phone, and property address, together with the answers to the quiz. Quiz contact information is shared with the single installer matched to the visitor's service area. Summit does not sell editorial-site analytics data, does not resell quiz contact information to undisclosed third parties, and does not enroll quiz respondents in a marketing rotation.
Information collected
Two categories of information are collected through the site. The first is information collected automatically when a visitor loads a page: a privacy-respecting analytics service records pageviews, referrer, device type, and approximate geographic region for aggregate reporting. This data is not used to identify individual readers and is not linked to contact information collected elsewhere. The second category is information voluntarily provided through a form, including the diagnostic quiz, the advisory scheduling form, and direct emails. Form data may include name, email address, phone number, property address, recent electric utility provider, monthly kilowatt-hour usage, homeownership status, intended timeline, and any open-text comments provided by the visitor.
How the information is used
Information collected through the diagnostic quiz is used to match the household with a single vetted installer for the service area, to generate a written advisory summary for the household where applicable, and to follow up on the inquiry through the contact channel the visitor selected. Aggregate analytics are used to identify which pages readers actually use, which questions readers are asking, and where the editorial coverage needs to be expanded. Information is not used to train external machine-learning models, is not sold to data brokers, and is not used for cross-site behavioral advertising.
Sharing
Quiz and advisory contact information is shared with the single installer matched to the household's service area, so that the installer can prepare a quote and contact the household to schedule an evaluation. Where a household opts into the advisory option, the information is also reviewed internally by Summit researchers to prepare the written summary. The site uses third-party service providers for hosting, email delivery, calendar scheduling, and analytics, each of which receives the minimum information necessary to perform its function and is bound by its own confidentiality terms. Summit may disclose information when required by law, by court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Summit, its readers, or the public.
Cookies and tracking
The site uses functional cookies necessary to operate the site and aggregate analytics cookies as described above. The site does not currently use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or persistent identifiers tied to individual readers. Visitors can configure their browser to refuse cookies, with the understanding that some features (such as the quiz form's progress state) may not function without them.
Retention
Quiz and advisory form data is retained for as long as the inquiry remains active and for a reasonable period afterward to handle follow-up questions and to comply with legal and accounting obligations. Aggregate analytics data is retained in summary form. Visitors can request earlier deletion as described below.
Visitor rights
Visitors can request a copy of the information Summit holds about them, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of the information from Summit's records, or withdraw consent for further communication. Requests should be sent to the contact address below with enough information to verify the visitor's identity and locate the records. Summit will respond within the time frame required by applicable law. Where state privacy law grants additional rights, including a right to opt out of certain processing or sharing, those rights are honored on request.
Children
The site is intended for adult homeowners researching solar for a property they own. The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information should contact the address below for prompt deletion.
Changes to this policy
Summit may update this policy as the editorial site, the diagnostic quiz, and the applicable privacy laws evolve. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above and, where the change affects the visitor's rights, posted with a notice on the home page for a reasonable period.
